App Stack

Terms

The short version

The full terms below say the same thing in more detail. If anything here conflicts with your rights under the law of your country, the law wins.

1. Who we are

App Stack is made by Martin Jiřička, [address], Czech Republic, Company ID (IČO) [IČO], [registered in the Trade Register / Živnostenský rejstřík] (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@appstackmac.com.

These terms are an agreement between you and us about using the App Stack app (“the app”) and the App Stack license (“the license”). By downloading or using the app you accept them. If you don't, please don't use the app.

2. The free version

You may download and use the app for free, on as many Macs as you like, for as long as you like. The free version gives you one stack with every feature. There is no time limit and no trial period.

3. The license

A license unlocks making more stacks (New Stack…). When you buy one, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the licensed features of the app:

To move the license to another Mac, open About App Stack on the old Mac and choose Deactivate This Mac. If a Mac is lost, broken or erased and you can't do that, write to us and we'll free the activation for you.

A team needs one license per person. If you'd like to buy several, write to us.

4. Buying

The license is sold by our reseller and merchant of record, Lemon Squeezy (Link, LLC, formerly Lemon Squeezy LLC). When you buy, your purchase contract, payment, invoice and sales tax or VAT are handled by Lemon Squeezy under its Buyer Terms and privacy policy. Your card statement shows a charge starting with LEMSQZY*.

The price we show is the final price, including any VAT or sales tax for your country; nothing is added at checkout. After payment you receive your license key by email.

5. Refunds

If you're not happy, write to hello@appstackmac.com within 30 days of your purchase and we'll refund it in full, no questions asked. We usually issue the refund within 2 working days of your email. It is paid through Lemon Squeezy to your original payment method, and depending on your bank it can take up to 10 days to show on your statement.

After a refund (or a chargeback) the license is turned off: the app stops offering New Stack until a license is activated again. Stacks you already made keep working.

This refund promise is in addition to your rights under consumer law, and it doesn't replace them. Lemon Squeezy, as the seller, is responsible for the statutory right of withdrawal (in the EU, generally 14 days from the purchase). For digital content delivered straight away, that right ends once delivery has started if you expressly agreed to immediate delivery and acknowledged that you would lose the right. To withdraw, write to Lemon Squeezy or to us at hello@appstackmac.com; we'll pass it on.

6. Activation, license checks and update checks

To activate a license, the app sends your license key to Lemon Squeezy's license server, together with a label for your Mac: its model and a short code calculated from its hardware ID. The label contains neither your name nor the hardware ID itself, but because it is sent with your license key, it is linked to your purchase. While the license is active, the app checks it again when it starts, if at least 30 days have passed since the last successful check, and it contacts the server when you deactivate a Mac. If a check can't reach the server or gets an answer it can't read, nothing changes.

While the main App Stack app is running, it also checks our website for updates, normally once a day, and downloads an update only when you choose to install it. You can turn automatic checks off in About App Stack. No accounts, no tracking: network connections are used for software updates and license activation, validation and deactivation. Our Privacy Policy explains this in detail.

7. What you may not do

If you break these rules, we may turn off the license key concerned. Stacks you already made keep working.

8. What the app does on your Mac

So you know what you're installing: each stack is a small app that App Stack creates in the Applications › App Stacks folder of your user account and signs on your Mac. A stack can open at login if you turn that on. App Stack doesn't need Accessibility or other special permissions. To remove it, delete the stacks (Manage Stacks… › Delete) and the App Stack app.

9. Updates and support

All updates to App Stack 1.x are included with your license, at no extra cost. We'll provide the updates needed to keep the app working as described, including fixes for defects and security problems, for as long as you can reasonably expect under consumer law. Beyond that, new features and support for future versions of macOS are up to us. Updates are offered through the app's update check (section 6) and can also be downloaded from our website. We answer support questions by email.

10. If something doesn't work

If the app or the licensed features don't work as described in these terms or on our website, write to hello@appstackmac.com and describe the problem. We'll put it right free of charge within a reasonable time, usually with an update. If we can't or don't, or the problem is serious, you can ask for a price reduction or end the contract and get your money back. These rights follow the law (for consumers in the Czech Republic, sections 2389a to 2389q of the Civil Code; elsewhere, your local consumer law), and the 30-day refund in section 5 comes on top of them. You can also raise a payment problem with Lemon Squeezy.

Apart from that, the app is provided “as is”: we don't promise it will be free of all errors or suit every purpose, and the free version comes without any warranty to the extent the law allows.

11. Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost data, lost profit or lost time, and our total liability to you for anything related to the app or the license is limited to the amount you paid for the license (or, for the free version, to zero). This limit does not apply to harm caused intentionally or through gross negligence, to injury to life or health, or to any liability that cannot be limited by law.

12. Ending these terms

You can stop using the app at any time. These terms end for a license if it is refunded or turned off under section 7. Sections 10 to 14 keep applying afterwards.

13. Other people's names and apps

App Stack is not affiliated with Apple. Mac, macOS and Dock are trademarks of Apple Inc. The app icons shown in your stacks belong to their owners; App Stack only displays them on your Mac.

14. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country, and you can bring a claim in the courts where you live.

If something goes wrong, please write to us first; we'll try to put it right. Consumers can also use out-of-court dispute resolution: in the Czech Republic, the Czech Trade Inspection Authority (ČOI) handles this. Disputes about payment and refunds can also be raised with Lemon Squeezy.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example when the app or the law changes. We'll post the new version here with a new date. Changes won't take away rights you already have under a license you bought before the change.
